Bakers pass on 30 per cent egg hike to customers

THOSE with a sweet tooth could soon be in for a rude awakening when they find themselves having to part with some extra cash for their chocolate éclair or sponge cake.

The egg industry is being hit by a 30 per cent increase and bakers and caterers are already feeling the hit - while the higher cost will soon be passed on to the consumer.
